Fire Station

3:13 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

Hopefully I will get a few updates on here in the next couple days…but for now here was Preston’s last preschool field trip to the fire station. It was fun and the kids loved it…most of them, anyway. I realized a few things while we were there though…they asked if we had a fire plan…uhh..not yet? A meeting place? No. A fire drill? No. Oh dear…I feel like a terrible parent. And it was nice that they got to see the fire fighter in all his gear because they told the kids to go to him if there was a fire and not run away. They look pretty scary in the mask ,helmet, fire suit…it never occurred to me that kids would be afraid, but it makes sense! So this was a good field trip for Preston, as well as myself!

Family Fun

12:48 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

We’ve been out to do a few things here and there…exploring new frontiers and trekking to new heights :) We sound so adventurous…I had to go check out a place in Fairfield, CA (about an hour away) to find a good picture spot so I found this place called Rockville Hills Park. We decided to go and take a look around to see if it was what I was looking for…and it was AWESOME! Just gorgeous. Lots of tall green grass, oak trees, and hiking/mountain biking trails…endless amounts, it seemed, just winding through the hills. I wanted to stay all day, but it started sprinkling and we were in no way prepared for hiking and rain…I was in sandals and we took turns lugging Ada around. After returning home (and stopping at the Jelly Belly Factory to get there…) my grandpa (who was the Fairfield city Manager for a LOOOOOONG time) told me that he “stuck his neck out a mile” to preserve the hills of Fairfield and create Rockville Hills Park. I thought that was neat. Little did he know that his grand and great-grandkids would visit it years later and really enjoy the beauty up there!!
