Edwards Haps and Mishaps

Despite being sick, I think we have had a fun October so far! I am trying so hard to make life normal and somewhat eventful for Preston while feeling nasty all day…I haven’t felt like taking pictures AT ALL, so thank you to all who have documented our fun. We went to the pumpkin patch…one that I have never been to all my life and now we are all wondering WHY?! I guess we didn’t believe the hype, but Bishop’s Pumpkin patch is pretty awesome. I know my face doesn’t show it, but it was. I think the little boys had tons of fun. Petting goats, riding the train, jumping on hay covered mattresses, eating cookies, etc. etc.

(Side note that has nothing to do with this post really…I am kind of impressed and surprised because I won our ward chili cook-off again a couple weeks ago!!! WOO HOO! I was doubled over at the stove making it while feeling terribly green. I didn’t even taste the end product but I WON! Well, I guess I won “Best Flavor” but out of “most kid friendly,” “Most colorful,” “Most unique” I assume best flavor means winner :) Not to toot my own horn, but…maybe a little!)

And on to Halloween! Preston was a pirate. Very cute. he wouldn’t wear the hat, but oh well, he got candy anyway, right?

The night started out like above, but once the candy started coming he didn’t care about wearing the costume!

Wow…when is the last time I was here? You may be wondering the same thing…you may not…who knows. I do have reasons. I promise.

Everything I look at, really, makes me want to throw up lately. Even the computer…and even my camera! Oh, to think of opening Photoshop sometimes, I really have a hard time. Nausiating.

I am exhausted…from sitting around all day in my jammies. Please don’t ask when I showered last…sick I know.

Taco Bell nachos have been a staple the past few weeks. That sticky, salty, nasty cheese…mmmmmmm.

Are things adding up? It’s true. I am pregnant. Having baby #2 in June 2010. I am barely pregnant, but sick, so I hope that’s a good sign “it” will stay in there. Thank goodness for modern medicine or I may have been flat on my back, at the toilet 10+ times a day, and in the hospital this time around…but thankfully I hit that all-day sickness before it got me…though I still don’t feel great, at all. I’m not throwing up, HOORAY!

I figured many people already know…so why not announce it here on the blog…so people I know (and I am sure many who I don’t) will now know. We’re havin’ a BABY! YAY, let’s start the count down!

Here are some pictures of Preston playing…and me too. I just followed him around for awhile one day and so I thought I’d share. He is so good at entertaining himself…and that is such a lovely thing most days! I often find him doing things he isn’t supposed to be doing when I think he’s playing nicely but at least I got the kitchen cleaned up or dinner cooked, right? I can always pull the entire, unrolled toilet paper out of the toilet with a plastic bag. He hasn’t done anything too disastrous yet…but I’m sure that’s coming.

The only time I can seem to get a fun, cute smile on camera is when Preston’s looking in the mirror…

And lots of playing.

The other day I was playing around with a new lens and it all started with this:

So we started playing. And we probably would have only done it once except for every time the camera beeped and went off Preston let out his fake, forced laugh* and would say “do it again!” So we took lots.

A few notes about this video and Preston.

He did this EVERY time he wound that thing.

He’d say, “It’s comin’!” Then fake laugh, then say, “Das funny”

And he always talks in weird voices. Trying to be funny. And I think he is.

Happy Birthday to my handsome husband! He’s amazing. We met outside Mr. Gough’s art history class and life has never been the same…in a good way! I hope you have a great day. LOVE YOU!

For Labor day I was able to pry Shaun away from the books and take a quick break up at Lake Clementine. It doesn’t necessarily look like a lake, seeing as how it is probably less than 20 yards across and it has a slight current in some areas (That’s my definition of a creek…) However, that’s the name. A lovely little place it is though! Clear water, not super crowded, lots of rocks for Preston to throw (Half the time in the water, the other half trying to peg other people…Half MY seemed to be spent trying to snag the large rocks he had aimed at other kids!) We all had a lot of fun! Very relaxing. We should do it again sometime.

I was feeling a little daring…jumping off a 5 foot rock.

Hope you ar all having a great labor Day weekend. We haven’t done a whole lot…I went garage saling on Saturday, kind of a waste of life this time. Nothing good. I love garage sales, but when you drive all over town and use up several of your Saturday hours to find nothing…what a let down! Oh well!

I have been trying to find fun things to do with Preston in the little community we live in…though it seems I have these grand ideas and they never quite go as I planned. I brought out the bocce balls, which Preston LOVES to throw out the garage every time I open it…then they roll down the street and I have to go chasing after them. We took them out to the grass so he could actually play with them where he wouldn’t break anything. Wasn’t interested. He wanted to chase the cats and throw things at them or play in the spider infested rocks…

I have been playing around with camera settings which means lots of Preston pictures…though not all great pictures (on my part…Preston looks cute in most!) Here are a few of him eating one of his favorites, “poppa-sicles.”

And then I was trying some with a white backdrop. Most of them not cute…but here are two I thought were cute. Probably just because I am his mom…and I love his feet and his cute little face.

Sorry I don’t post more! I have just been using my camera so much that I don’t feel like getting it out if I don’t have to sometimes! Terrible huh? Then I never feel like posting if I don’t have any photos…that’s all I ever look at on other people’s blogs…terrible again.

For our family who lives so far away…and the family who lives close by, and for us.

Preston’s new favorite move is Aladdin. First thing when he wakes up, “Ina watch ‘laddin.” So here he is singing “Riff Raff, Street Rat” With a little help, (don’t pay attention to my singing…..)

This week has been eventful…in one way or another. Shaun had orientation last week. He had a lot of homework to get done for the “mock classes” he had on Thursday and Friday. Ok, they aren’t even real classes and you have a ton of homework? You know this is bad. Most of us hear how hard law school is, especially the first year…and I honestly don’t think anyone is kidding around. He’s already had hours of homework and his first official class is tomorrow.

Tuesday we had our youth activity at Negro Bar with kayaks, paddle boats, and then THIS showed up. I am SO envious.

There was a lady for the Sacramento Bee with him and she was taking pictures for an article they were doing on this guys car-boat-thing. Some of our youth mooched a ride off him and I wanted SO bad to go running up and say, “Please! Please! Please…..” I should have. Instead I took photos from the shore.

Great people, great fun, great night.

The next night we went with Shaun to a law school orientation meeting where they swore an oath of professionalism. We brought Preston thinking was a family event. Two other couples brought their kid(s) and all three of us ended up outside. Even the tiniest peep out of Preston and everyone cranked their neck to watch. Some people smiled and others just stared. I am pretty sure there aren’t many other people at this school in our same situation…married with a kid. Very different from our BYU experience…in SOOOO many ways. I won’t even begin to list. So here’s Preston playing happily outside, in front of Shaun’s new home for the next 3 years…
