Precious moments
This evening Preston fell asleep in my arms and I decided that I wanted to take a nap so I brought him into our room and laid him in bed with me. No sooner did I set him down then his eyes opened and he was awake. Darn. Well, I thought, “I’ll just close my eyes and see if he’ll go to sleep too…” So I closed my eyes part way and watched him. He would lift up his head and look at me for a few seconds then lay it down. Lift it up, look, lay it down. Then he would inch closer and closer to me and finally his head was right next to mine and he reached around and found my finger and grabbed on then he closed his eyes and fell asleep. It was seriously the most precious thing. Don’t you wish you could have Tivo for life? Then we could experience moments like that all the time if we want. I guess that’s what our memories are for. Gosh, I love being a mom :)

I love being a mom too! I also love sharing your “mom” moments with you–even long distance! He is so adorable! These wonderful little “gift” moments are what will bind you to him forever, make you walk through any fire for him, and all those rough moments easier to handle! Treasure in your heart these moments when you experience pure and perfect love, from a little one so perfect…and during the perfect time of year! Love you my darling! Mom

Janelle – I have to tell you – you are the sweetest girl (ok, woman) ever. I love reading your blog – and sharing these precious moments with you! It brings back all those memories for me, too. Being a mom is truly the best thing I’ve ever experienced – and I’m so glad you’re able to treasure it. I can’t wait to see your darling son in person – Love, Aunt Sharon

Reminds me of a time when we were living in your house (I hope that sounds weird to people other than you), and we went up to Idaho for a weekend when Jenelle was pretty young. The only way to work it was to put her in a pack-n-play at the foot of our bed. She awoke the next morning, stood up at the edge of the crib, and just watched us for a while. We were careful not to move, and she just sat back down and chilled for a few minutes. Then she stood back up to look at us, and then went back down. She did that 5 or 6 times, and never woke us up. It was brilliant and completely out of character.
