Finally!

3:48 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

November 16, 2012 just drug on like cold molasses…on and on…all day we waited. Bar results wouldn’t be available until 6pm! We chatted on and off all day on gmail, “I think you passed…” “I think I failed.” “You have to have passed…I’m confident?? But what if…?” “I think I failed.”  And so on, all day!

We refreshed the Bar website 1500 times. 11 hours remaining, 3 hours remaining, 72 minutes, 66 minutes, 48 minutes…etc. etc. all the way down to the minute mark. We were so nervous!!!!!  He typed in his numbers and then hit enter and we read “This name appears on the July 2012 bar pass list.”

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! HOORAY!! Law school drug on and on…then the end of law school seemed to drag even more with marking the last class, last final, graduation, bar prep, taking the bar, and FINALLY finding out if he actually passed 4 months later!! I am so proud of Shaun and that he has made it through law school and he has done really well! Even after having several kids and all the other crazy things life threw at us. My husband is pretty awesome, in my opinion :)  He still has to be sworn in…so I guess it is STILL dragging on, but at least the worst is over!

Such a great accomplishment, I am still in shock, but feel so incredibly blessed!

Thank you to everyone who has helped us through the last few years! We have had so much love and support, it is overwhelming and we thank you so, so, so much! There are no words, really.

Here’s to a new chapter!

Pumpkin Patch #3

10:10 am by Janelle. Filed under: News

I wasn’t able to go to Preston’s pumpkin patch field trip this year so there are no pictures of that but I think he felt like a real big kid that day because he got to ride the bus and his mom wasn’t with him!

For Ada’s playschool field trip to the pumpkin patch we went to one in Granite Bay called Rickey Ranch. I had never heard of it but I think it was really cute for little kids. There was no actual “patch” where you could pick your own pumpkin right off the vine but there were a lot of other fun things. The hay ride was especially fun…we went out into a pasture and we were in the middle of some cows, a donkey, and the BIGGEST horse I have ever seen! I was a little freaked out actually because we stopped in the middle of the field and the driver got out and brought some food over by the tractor so the animals would come and then they were surrounding us, eating hay off the hay bales…which we were sitting on…sometimes the donkey would get someone’s clothes. The horse got right up in our faces too. Although it was slightly intimidating it was also really neat for the kids to see all these animals so close. I thought it was a hay ride worth a couple bucks, for sure.

And the “pony ride” was better than any pony ride I have seen…the ones where you sit on a poor little pony tied to a metal clothes-line deal. They actually took the kids around on a horse. They all loved it! $8 per kids at Rickey ranch got a pony ride, tractor pull, and a pumpkin! I thought it was a pretty good deal, perhaps we will be back to Rickey Ranch next year :)

And that was the last of our 4 pumpkin patch experiences this year!

Pumpkin Patch #2

12:35 am by Janelle. Filed under: News

Here is another pumpkin patch we went to. We went with my little brother and his wife when they were in town and my parents and Aunt Kelly came too. I wish we would have come a little bit earlier than an hour before closing because we were promptly shooed out at 6 pm and didn’t even buy a pumpkin! We fed goats, and paid a few dollars to go through a “Corn Maze” which was actually not a maze at all because I am pretty sure mazes have dead ends and forks in the road…this was more a corn trail where you walk back and forth, back and forth….back and forth until you end up at the end. But Preston still thought it was cool, so that’s really what matters! I loved all the scare crows and old rusty things. We will have to go back next year and actually purchase a pumpkin!

Pumpkin Patch #1

12:52 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

We went to our share of pumpkin patches this year! All Together we visited 4! Fall is my favorite time of year so we were trying to soak it in…but i think by the end of the month I felt I had soaked in plenty of the pumpkin patch scene. Each one had different quirky, fun things and it was neat to see what each place had. Some had petting zoos, hay rides, corn mazes, big slides, hay pyramids, weird scare crows…another with fields of rotting, tiny pumpkins…not sure why I paid $2 a person at that one for a hay ride out to see a field of nasty pumpkins…but good to know for next year, right?

Here is the first one we visited. I was really sick but even more sick of being inside so I drug myself out with my sister so I could pass some time before I could put these kids to bed and myself too! Is that bad when the kid’s bedtime can’t come fast enough some days?

Jog-a-thon | Fire Station | Etc.

9:39 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

I have been working on a book of our blog for awhile now. I haven’t ever made one and now that we have had this thing for quite some time I have a lot of work to do!! Even if no one looks at this blog, I think it is a great way to document our lives and i have loved looking through all the things we have done over the last almost 7 years of blogging and life has changed so much! Our posts were boring when we first started…and they are boring still…but at least I have learned how to add a few photos!

So, here are a few more photos to document part of our October.

Preston had his first jog-a-thon! I remember LOVING jog-a-thon days when I was in elementary school, especially the Popsicle afterwards! The kids ran for 20 minutes and at first Preston was running full speed. He’d make fisted punches into the air and run rocket speed…then crash and walk a little until finally he tired himself out. We’ve got to work on a little technique called “pacing.”

Ada had a field trip, with her playschool, to the fire station and I think all the kids enjoyed climbing all over the truck while the fire fighters talked to the rest of us…they weren’t too interested in what they had to say…though they did enjoy watching the fire fighters slide down the fire pole. I didn’t realize how high up they slide down from! There were also stairs for those less daring.

In the backyard we had a little 7 month photo session for Dallin. He is such a sweetheart! He loves his mommy and is just a happy little guy! He has started scooting around and is getting pretty quick at flopping to where he wants to go. The kid loves chewing on and destroying anything paper and definitely loves eating in general. I just love my little Dallin :)
