Shout out to my husband!

1:26 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

We decided Shaun should go to law school earlier this year so he studied for months and finally took the LSAT (law school admission test) on the 4th of October. So we have been waiting all month wondering what he would get so we could start applying…well, he got his score and…he scored a 160! Awesome job babe! Now it’s time to apply and we’ve got a list of schools…so start campaigning if you want us to live by you or swaying us away from your local law school if you don’t :) We are pretty excited!! Shaun has wanted to be a lawyer since he was just a kid…then it was because he thought he was good at arguing :) now I think he wants to make a difference.

His adorable bow tie. It belonged to both my brothers. I guess you could call it a family heirloom now.

I’m a dirtball…

In our neighborhoods out here (I’m sure other places do it too…they didn’t do this when I lived in Utah…) several times a year we have the chance to make a huge pile of junk on the sidewalk for a big truck to come and haul away for us. People put yard trimmings, furniture, appliances, and tons of nasty junk. Well, you can’t help but look at what people are getting rid of while driving by. I spotted a pile that had some old dining room chairs in it and that night mom assisted me in the retrieval…I know, it may seem kind of disgusting to dig through someones trash, but whatever. I got a free chair and a craft project…that turned out fairly cute, I think. So, think what you will of me.

Here is the transformation…

The main reason I wanted to find a cute chair was for a prop. I think it’ll work nicely.

To grandmother’s house we go…

11:45 am by Janelle. Filed under: News

While Shaun had a training in Bakersfield this past week, Preston and I went out to visit his family in Kaysville. We had a lot of fun hanging out with grandma, grandpa, uncles, aunt, and cousin! Here is our week in pictures:

DSC_0524

Preston was always saying “outside?” he wanted to run up and down the street, so we spent a lot of time outside playing in the yard. Luckily it was awesome weather.

DSC_0529

He was running pretty much all the time it felt like. How do they do it? No wheezing for air or stopping for breaks…

DSC_0542

We went to a fun pumpkin patch…the funny part was that we got there and wondered why it was so crowded and busy. It turns out they were having a “neighborhood party” aka a ward party and one lady told us they could invite friends and family so we could be her friend. We got a free hay ride and free pumpkins, what a deal!

Grandma and Preston got to read lots of books together!

We went to Heritage Park where Brigham Young put down his cane and said, “This is the place.” There is a little village full of old pioneer homes that have either been reconstructed or relocated. Kids were having a great time in their costumes making candles, dolls, and all sorts of crafts…there were tons of animals…just so much to do. If you live or visit out there in Salt Lake I would totally recommend going there. It’s really neat!

We had a lot of fun and it passed by way too quickly!

Happy Anniversary

7:20 am by shaun. Filed under: News

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a bad husband. It’s true. Why, you may ask? Well, today is the third anniversary of my marriage to Janelle, and I am a thousand miles away from my family working. I know…. gasp and shutter. It is horrible.

Since I am away from home and our computer I don’t have any sweet pictures to post or anything, but I want to do a post anyway. And since I am at work and only have a few seconds to this before I get caught I’ll get straight to it.

I love you, Bug. I miss you like crazy. I can’t wait to see you on Friday. You are the best decision I have ever made, my best friend, and I love you more everyday. I hope you have a great day today.

My Main Man

In response to Kelsey’s tag……

MY HUBSBAND

Janelle, not believing Shaun

1. Where did you meet? Outside of Brother Gough’s art history class at the good ol’ LDSBC
2. How long did you date? It’s hard to say…about a month, then off for a year, then again for 6 months…then we were hitched.
3. How long have you been married? 3 years on Wednesday! And he’s gone for the week. Sad.

rack508079

4. What does he say that surprises you? That he loves my cooking…I am always experimenting and 90% of the time he loves it…it’s that 10% of tomato sauce enchiladas and all my attempts at Chinese food that don’t surprise me…
5. What is your favorite feature of his? I love his eyes…so blue…and hair, his lips are nice too…and I love his “slender build.”
6. What is your favorite quality of his? He is very genuine and has an honest love for people. He is always worrying and praying about his friends, family, and the youth in our ward.
7. Does he have a nickname for you? Bug
8. What is his favorite color? It depends on the season. Football-blue: cougars and whatever that greenish blue the Eagles wear? and basketball-red: Blazers.

9. What is his favorite food? Swedish pancakes

10. What is his favorite sport? He claims basketball but I don’t believe it. I’d say football.

11. When and where was your first kiss? Hiking up rock canyon in Provo.

12. Favorite things to do as a couple? We love going on “adventures” (driving places we’ve never been…) and hiking, eating, church things, visiting historical sites/monuments…

Memorial Hill

13. Do you have any children? Yeah, we have one little weasel, Preston!

14. Does he have a hidden talent? He sings! No one really knows it (especially out here) and he tried to hide it, but he’s good!

15. How old is he? 27

16. Who said ‘i love you’ first? i can’t really remember but I think it may have been me? And I am pretty sure I was slightly awkward…

17. What is his favorite type of music? Classic rock and anything i sing. The second one is definitely a lie.

18. What do you most admire about him? I love that he is always trying to better himself, he’s always got a list of goals he is working towards, and he knows how to be a good friend.

19. Do you think he will read this? For sure.

Again, Prop 8

7:05 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

My mother-in-law sent me this video. I thought it was a worth while thing to share. Why do some people not see this as a morality issue? How can they push their morals on us but we have no right to push ours on them? We are considered bigots and haters if we think or say anything negative about their lifestyle. Anyway, watch the video. It’s worth 6 minutes of your time. I am pretty passionate about the subject…if you couldn’t tell. I’m not having my son bring home a book about two daddies. I will tell him about homosexuals myself when it is appropriate.

Long day!

8:52 pm by Janelle. Filed under: News

I haven’t had a day where I was going, going, going for a long time. Kelsey and I signed up for the HOT pink 5K in Roseville to support Breast Cancer research, so this morning we woke up and ran that. It was fun being there and running with everyone. I love races. Not because I am good at them, but because there is something about the atmosphere there that makes them so exciting. Plus, you get a shirt and a goodie bag, I mean, come on.

Shaun and Preston came out to watch us and cheer us across the finish line! Thanks guys, I Love You!!

After the race we rushed home, changed and headed up to Auburn for a Prop 8 Rally. It was nice to see that there are other people out there, all involved in the same cause. And we need to fight, not just go out and put our vote in, that may not be enough. We need to fight for what we want and know to be right and true. We aren’t doing this to be discriminatory, but our rights will be imposed upon if this does not pass.

A law professor (from BYU…go cougars!) told a story of a doctor who, when asked by a homosexual to perform in vitro fertilization, said it was not in line with his religious beliefs to do that but gave her a referral to a great doctor who would. She went and had it done but came back to sue the first doctor for discriminating against her. She won the case and the doctor had to either go against his religious beliefs and help homosexuals get pregnant or lose his ability to practice medicine. This is really scary. Does he not have a right to practice his religion on days other than Sunday? When people say, “what’s the big deal? Just let them get married. Who cares.” They don’t realize that this affects so much more than just letting two people who love each other get married. They will not stop there. Everything will become a law suit and before we know it, God and religion will be cut out of everything.

I could go on and on…but I won’t. Perhaps in another blog. Just beware, you might hear a lot about this in the next month. I am going to try to do all I can and hopefully Heavenly Father will help with the rest!

Sooo….anyway, after the rally i went and helped shoot a bride and groom and now I am TIRED! And that’s the story of my long day. So, I’m going to bed. Have a good night!
